La Costena has been around since 1923, starting out as a small grocery store, owned and ran by Vicente López Recines. He started mixing chillies and vinegars so that they could last longer and started selling them by the jar, so they could keep for longer than regular fresh produce. Fast forward, and Vincente decides to make his own jar company - fundamentally changing the business and helping it grow to what it is today! Opening the first factory, he could produce more products which lasted longer and thus, reach a broader scope of customers! 

At the beginng, the products were all chilies, but La Costena later began producing new products such as beans, vegetables and much more!
