Batchelors Bigga Marrowfat Peas are full size large whole peas. In the upper end Pubs and Chip Shops, these are served with Fish & Chips to really make it a proper British meal! Don't worry though - they are great in salads, soups and on toast as well.
Marrowfat Peas are called this, as this pea originally comes from the 'Maro' variety that Japanese Immigrants brought to England over a 100 years ago. This variety is a plump and juicy pea which Japenese prefer! When they wanted to name these variety for English production they took the variety name 'Maro' with the characteristic of the peas being 'fat' and made them into Marrowfat Peas!
